New Membership Rule
Unused accounts are no longer acceptable to request membership. If you have no intention of using livejournal other then to add communities to take others uploads, you will not be granted membership. Simple rule, if you don't follow you won't have your request granted. If you are going to create an account it should be used, daily and regularly; otherwise why bother making an account. Don't make us mods have to babysit you more then we already have to.

This applies to anyone wanting to have new membership access, obviously if you are already added then you have passed the screening.

Thanks.

daily? really? a bit extreme, dont u think. not everyone wants to write something everyday.

I agree with anonymous commenter, daily is a bit too often. I'm very active on LJ, but I haven't posted anything for months that isn't locked.

For people to update daily is a bit too extreme, yeah. Just saying.

There really is no point in your complaining seeing as you are a member. It was a general comment on a reason someone should be using livejournal, being that they signed up. Even if you don't post openly it still shows whether someone is active or not. Unused accounts typically have 0 usage = this post.

what about weekly?

I'm a bit confused with the wording, this just means new members will be checked for LJ use right? Like... old members are not required to do anything extra to stay?
laravenuslaravenus on March 28th, 2011 08:08 am (UTC)
Well but some of us are too shy to write something ... or we can't comment on everything ... It's hard you know and sometimes I also don't have time to post ... only during the holidays...
orangegenie17 on March 28th, 2011 09:02 am (UTC)
well you can make your posts "friends only" or if you are really that shy, you can make them private posts.

If you are going to create an account it should be used, daily and regularly.

Daily? That's a bit much. I've been on lj for seven or 8 years now (with an old journal and this one) and I don't post daily now, but even when I started out I didn't have the time or need to update my journal daily. Also, a journal that is not updated daily does not mean it isn't being used on other communities which you will most likely not want to check on if you're already babysitting us so much.

well, I think what the mod wants to say is that new members should at least post something once in a while. I for example, have a journal that I regularly update. There are some people who never post anything and will lurk and download stuff(which I think is the reason why this post came about). Locked posts will still come out in your journal entry count (right?), so there's no worry if you post friends' only entries.

^Yeah, I don't think the mods will look at a person's journal and say "OMFG this person went ONE DAY without posting! REJECTEEEED! >:O"
It's just so they know you didn't make an account for the sole purpose of mooching. Perfectly reasonable~

I think using daily it's too much XD maybe once or twice a week or two OAO for exemple, I don't have the time to post but I do comment >_<
Tess: stupidsleazoidvenuswaltz on March 28th, 2011 05:21 pm (UTC)
This sounds like a good idea to me.
It just means people have to be active Lj members if they to join the comm and tbf I think that is a small requirement for the great work this community does!
Kumanosukeisho_91 on March 28th, 2011 05:29 pm (UTC)
"active" can also mean you read the stuff...

i don't post much either, since i have another blog....
basically i use my lj account a lot, but only to be informed about stuff..

so i am active, but not posting daily or whatever o.o

I don't post in my own journal, but i have posted to communities including a few posts with uploads to this one and yet i'm denied membership now :-(

Hello, tonarimachi. I have read all your rules and requirements. I understand that it is your choice of whether to accept anyone as a member or not, but I would like to point out that although I haven't been as active as I could have been in the past few months (due to recently resolved computer issues) I am on my LiveJournal or on immediate friends LiveJournals at least four or five times a week.

Still, I understand that your community has its regulations. I simply wanted to explain why I may not be posting daily as this community wishes to see.

Thank you for your consideration.
